Prentice Penny is an American television producer, screenwriter and director. He served as showrunner on the HBO series *Insecure* (2016–2021), for which he also wrote and directed episodes. He wrote and directed the Netflix film *Uncorked* (2020).

Penny began his career as a staff writer on *Girlfriends* (2000). He later worked on *Scrubs* (2001), *Happy Endings* (2011) and *Brooklyn Nine-Nine* (2013) as a writer and producer. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California screenwriting programme.
