## Biography

Quinn Redeker (2 May 1936 – 20 December 2022) was an American actor and screenwriter. He appeared in numerous television series and films, and is best known for his long-running roles in daytime soap operas, including Alex Marshall on *Days of Our Lives* (1979–1987) and Rex Sterling on *The Young and the Restless* (1987–2004).

As a screenwriter, Redeker co-authored the story for the 1978 film *The Deer Hunter* with Lou Garfinkle, for which he received a shared Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. He also appeared in three films directed by Robert Redford: *The Candidate* (1972), *The Electric Horseman* (1979) and *Ordinary People* (1980), in which he played the brother of Mary Tyler Moore’s character. Redeker began his career with stand-up comedy in Las Vegas and guest roles on prime-time series before focusing on daytime television.
