## Biography

Rafael Campos (13 May 1936 – 9 July 1985) was a Dominican-American character actor. Born in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, he moved to the United States in 1949. He began his screen career in 1955 with a role in *Blackboard Jungle*, after being spotted by director Richard Brooks during a stage production.

Campos appeared in numerous films and television series over three decades. His credits include *Trial* (1955), *Dino* (1957), *The Light in the Forest* (1958), *Where the Buffalo Roam* (1980) and *V* (1983). On television he had a recurring role as Ramon Diaz Jr. in ten episodes of *Rhoda* (1977–1978) and guest appearances in series such as *All in the Family* (1971), *Gunsmoke*, *The Streets of San Francisco* and *The A-Team*.

He was briefly married to singer Dinah Washington from 1961 to 1962. Campos died of stomach cancer in Woodland Hills, California.
