## Biography

Rafael Corkidi was a Mexican cinematographer, film director and screenwriter. Born in Puebla, Puebla, he worked as a cinematographer on Alejandro Jodorowsky's films *Fando y Lis* (1968), *El Topo* (1970) and *The Holy Mountain* (1973). He later directed feature films including *Ángeles y querubines* (1972), *Auandar Anapu* (1975), *Pafnucio Santo* (1977) and *Deseos* (1978).

Corkidi directed *Figuras de la pasión* (1983), the first Mexican and Latin American feature film made entirely in video format. He received the Ariel Award for Best Cinematography for *El Topo* in 1971 and the Ariel de Oro for his career contributions in 2013. He died in Boca del Río, Veracruz.
