## Biography

Rafael Palmero (1944–2006) was a Spanish production designer, art director and set decorator. Born in Madrid, he studied decoration at the Escuela Oficial de Cine and worked in television from 1969 before entering feature films in the mid-1970s.

He collaborated extensively with Carlos Saura, beginning with production design on *Cría cuervos* (1976) and continuing on films including *Flamenco* (1995) and *The 7th Day* (2004). Other credits include *The Holy Innocents* (1984), *¡Ay, Carmela!* (1990) and *Cows* (1992). He received Goya Awards for art direction and costume design on *¡Ay, Carmela!*.
