## Biography

Rajiv Chandrasekaran is an American journalist and author. He joined *The Washington Post* in 1994 and served as bureau chief in Baghdad during the 2003 Iraq War and its aftermath, as well as in Cairo and Southeast Asia. He later held roles as national editor and assistant managing editor at the paper.

His 2006 non-fiction book *Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone* documented the American occupation administration in Baghdad. He has written two further books: *Little America: The War Within the War for Afghanistan* (2012) and, with Howard Schultz, *For Love of Country* (2014). *Imperial Life in the Emerald City* won the Samuel Johnson Prize.
