## Biography

Ralf Harolde, born Ralph Harold Wigger, was an American character actor. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 17 May 1899 and began his career on the stage with local stock companies there. After serving in the US Marines during the First World War, he continued in theatre before moving into film in the 1920s.

Between 1920 and 1963 he appeared in nearly 100 films, often playing gangsters and other unsavoury characters. His credits include *Night Nurse* (1931), *I'm No Angel* (1933), *Our Relations* (1936), *The Sea Wolf* (1941) and *Murder, My Sweet* (1944), in which he played Dr Sonderborg. He also appeared in *Safe in Hell* (1931) and *Desperate* (1947).

Harolde died in Santa Monica, California, in November 1974.
