## Biography

Ranald MacDougall (10 March 1915 – 12 December 1973) was an American screenwriter. He wrote the screenplay for *Mildred Pierce* (1945) and shared screenwriting credit on *Cleopatra* (1963). Other screenplays include *Objective, Burma!* (1945), *The Naked Jungle* (1954) and *The World, the Flesh and the Devil* (1959).

MacDougall also directed several films, among them *Man on Fire* (1957) and *The World, the Flesh and the Devil* (1959). He served as president of the Writers Guild of America West from 1971 until 1973. He began his career in radio before moving to film in the mid-1940s.
