Ray Bradbury was an American writer of fantasy, horror and science fiction. Born Ray Douglas Bradbury in Waukegan, Illinois, on 22 August 1920, he died in Los Angeles on 5 June 2012.

He wrote the episode 'I Sing the Body Electric' for the original series of *The Twilight Zone* (1959). His best-known works include the novels *Fahrenheit 451* (1953) and *Something Wicked This Way Comes* (1962), and the short-story collections *The Martian Chronicles* (1950) and *The Illustrated Man* (1951). He received the National Medal of Arts in 2004 and a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation in 2007.
