## Biography

Ray Jenkins (1935–2023) was a British television, radio and film writer. He contributed scripts to numerous police and crime drama series from the 1960s to the 1980s, including *Public Eye*, *Z Cars*, *Callan*, *The Sweeney*, *Special Branch*, *Juliet Bravo* and *The Gentle Touch*.

He adapted Wilkie Collins’s *The Woman in White* for BBC Television in 1982 and Tom Hart’s novel *Aura and the Kingfisher* as the feature film *The Innocent* (1985). Jenkins also wrote educational drama scripts and served as chair of the Writers’ Guild Television Committee in the early 1970s.
