## Biography

Ray June (27 March 1895 – 26 May 1958) was an American cinematographer. Born in Ithaca, New York, he attended Columbia University without graduating and served as a cameraman in the US Army Signal Corps during the First World War.

He worked in Hollywood from the mid-1910s, becoming a member of the American Society of Cinematographers. June was nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Cinematography: for *Arrowsmith* (1931), *Barbary Coast* (1935) and *Funny Face* (1957). Among his other credits as director of photography are *Horse Feathers* (1932), *Treasure Island* (1934), *The Great Ziegfeld* (1936), *Night Must Fall* (1937), *Test Pilot* (1938), *Babes in Arms* (1939), *The Court Jester* (1955) and *Houseboat* (1958).
