## Biography

Raymond Hakim (1909–1980) was an Egyptian-born French film producer. With his brother Robert Hakim he founded the production company Paris-Film Production in 1934. Their early work included Julien Duvivier’s *Pépé le Moko* (1937) and Jean Renoir’s *La Bête Humaine* (1938).

The brothers moved to Hollywood during the Second World War, where they produced films including Jean Renoir’s *The Southerner* (1945). They returned to France in the early 1950s and continued to produce a range of French and international features, among them *Casque d’Or* (1952), *Purple Noon* (1960), *L’Eclisse* (1962), *Les Bonnes Femmes* (1960) and Luis Buñuel’s *Belle de Jour* (1967).
