## Biography

Raymond Hughes was a British costume designer for television and film. He joined the BBC costume department in 1966 and rose to head costume designer, working on numerous series including *The Pallisers* (1974).

Hughes designed costumes for the *Doctor Who* serial *The Invisible Enemy* (1977). His film credits include *Countess Dracula* (1971), *Return to Oz* (1985), *Young Sherlock Holmes* (1985), *The Whistle Blower* (1986), *Jack the Ripper* (1988), *Jekyll & Hyde* (1990) and *The Musketeer* (2001). He received a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design for a Drama Series for *The Pallisers*.
