## Biography

Reed Morano is an American film director and cinematographer. Born on 15 April 1977 in Omaha, Nebraska, she graduated with a BA from New York University and began her career as a cinematographer.

She made her directorial debut with the feature *Meadowland* (2015). Morano directed the first three episodes of the Hulu series *The Handmaid's Tale* (2017), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and a Directors Guild of America Award, becoming the first woman to win both in the same year. Her other directing credits include episodes of *Halt and Catch Fire* (2016) and *Billions* (2017), and the features *I Think We're Alone Now* (2018) and *The Rhythm Section* (2020).

As a cinematographer, Morano has worked on films including *Frozen River* (2008), *Kill Your Darlings* (2013) and *The Skeleton Twins* (2014). She directed an episode of the Apple TV+ series *Cape Fear* (2026).
