Reinhold Schünzel was a German actor and director. Born in Hamburg in 1888, he made his film debut in 1916 and became a prominent figure in German cinema during the silent era, appearing in both comedies and dramas while also directing films such as *Katharina die Große* (1920).

He continued working in Germany into the 1930s despite his Jewish ancestry, directing comedies including *Viktor und Viktoria* (1933). Schünzel emigrated to the United States in 1937, where he directed several Hollywood films and acted in titles such as *Hangmen Also Die!* (1943) and *Notorious* (1946), playing Dr. Anderson.

After the Second World War he returned to Germany and resumed acting on stage and screen until his death in 1954.
