René Auberjonois was an American actor. He was born in New York City on 1 June 1940 and died in Los Angeles on 8 December 2019. He trained at Carnegie Mellon University and began his career in theatre, appearing with companies including the American Conservatory Theater.

Auberjonois won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical in 1970 for his role in the Broadway production *Coco*. He received further Tony nominations for *The Good Doctor* (1973), *Big River* (1985) and *City of Angels* (1989), and a Drama Desk Award for *Big River*. On screen he appeared in several Robert Altman films, including Father Mulcahy in *M*A*S*H* (1970) and Sheehan in *McCabe & Mrs. Miller* (1971).

He was best known for television roles as Clayton Endicott III in *Benson* (1980–1986) and Odo in *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine* (1993–1999), as well as Paul Lewiston in *Boston Legal* (2004–2008). He also provided the voice of Chef Louis in the animated film *The Little Mermaid* (1989).
