## Biography

René Echevarria is an American screenwriter and television producer of Cuban-American background. He graduated with a degree in history from Duke University in 1984 and began his career in theatre in New York before submitting a spec script to *Star Trek: The Next Generation*.

His first credited episode for the series was 'The Offspring'. He went on to write numerous episodes across *Star Trek: The Next Generation* and *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine*, later serving as co-supervising producer on the latter. Echevarria created the series *The 4400* and *Carnival Row*, and was showrunner on *Terra Nova*. He has also written for *Castle*, *Dark Angel* and *Medium*.
