Rhys Thomas, also credited as Morgan Rhys Thomas, is a Welsh director and producer. He was born on 18 September 1979 in Cowbridge, Wales, and studied at Trinity College, Dublin.

He joined Saturday Night Live as Film Unit producer in 2005 and later directed shorts, music videos and parodies for the show. He directed and produced its opening credits from 2012 to 2018 and the 40th Anniversary Special, which won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special in 2015. Thomas is co-creator and director of the IFC series Documentary Now!.

His other credits include the feature Staten Island Summer (2015), stand-up specials for John Mulaney, all episodes of Comrade Detective (2017), and episodes of Hawkeye (2021). He directed an episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
