## Biography

Rhys Williams (31 December 1897 – 28 May 1969) was a Welsh character actor in films and television. He began his career on the British stage with Shakespearean companies before making his film debut in *How Green Was My Valley* (1941) as Dai Bando, having originally been hired as a dialogue coach for the production.

He appeared in numerous films including *Mrs. Miniver* (1942), *Random Harvest* (1942) as Sam, *The Bells of St. Mary's* (1945), *Julius Caesar* (1953), *Johnny Guitar* (1954) and *The Sons of Katie Elder* (1965). His television credits included episodes of *Mission: Impossible* (1966) and *The Andy Griffith Show* (1960).
