## Biography

Ric Waite (1933–2012) was an American cinematographer. He began his career as a still photographer in New York before moving to Los Angeles in 1970, where he worked initially in television on series such as *Emergency!* and *Police Story*, and on several television films.

His feature film debut as director of photography was *The Long Riders* (1980). Among his subsequent credits were *48 Hrs.* (1982), *Footloose* (1984), *Red Dawn* (1984), *Cobra* (1986) and *Adventures in Babysitting* (1987). Waite received four Emmy nominations for his television work and won one for the 1976 miniseries *Captains and the Kings*.
