## Biography

Riccardo Gualino (1879–1964) was an Italian industrialist and film producer. He founded the production and distribution company Lux Film in 1934 and remained closely involved in its operations through the 1950s, acting as financier and producer on many projects.

Gualino produced or financed numerous Italian films, including *Senso* (1954, uncredited) directed by Luchino Visconti, *Eyes Without a Face* (1960, uncredited), *Theodora, Slave Empress* (1954), *Carthage in Flames* (1960) and *The Tartars* (1961). Lux Film was responsible for a range of post-war productions, among them several neorealist works.
