## Biography

Richard B. Shull (1929–1999) was an American character actor who appeared in film, television and on stage. Born in Evanston, Illinois, he attended the University of Iowa and served in the US Army before beginning his career as a stage manager. He made his Broadway debut in the 1970 musical Minnie's Boys and received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in Goodtime Charley (1975).

Shull's film credits include *The Anderson Tapes* (1971), *Klute* (1971) as Sugarman, *Sssssss* (1973), *Splash* (1984) as Dr Ross, *Housesitter* (1992) as Ralph and *Private Parts* (1997). On television he appeared in series such as *Holmes & Yoyo*, *Hart to Hart* and *Lou Grant*. He died of a heart attack in New York City while appearing in the Broadway production *Epic Proportions*.
