## Biography

Richard Cameron (16 June 1948 – 5 May 2026) was an English playwright and screenwriter from Doncaster, Yorkshire. He taught drama and directed Scunthorpe Youth Theatre before becoming a full-time writer in the early 1990s.

His stage works include *Pond Life* (1992), *Can't Stand Up For Falling Down* (1990) and *The Glee Club* (2002). He received three Sunday Times Playwriting Awards, a Fringe First and the Independent Theatre Award. His television play *Stone, Scissors, Paper* (1997) won the Dennis Potter Play of the Year Award.

Cameron wrote the *Midsomer Murders* episode 'Midsomer Rhapsody' (2005) and the screenplay for the 2018 film adaptation of *Pond Life*. He also wrote *Dear Nobody* (1998).
