Richard Chamberlain was an American actor of stage and screen. Born George Richard Chamberlain on 31 March 1934 in Beverly Hills, California, he died on 29 March 2025.

He rose to fame as the idealistic young doctor in the television series *Dr. Kildare* (1961–1966). He later appeared in several acclaimed television miniseries, including *Shōgun* (1980) and *The Thorn Birds* (1983), and played the first screen Jason Bourne in the 1988 television film *The Bourne Identity*. His film credits include *The Three Musketeers* (1973) and its sequel, *The Towering Inferno* (1974) as Simmons, and *The Last Wave* (1977).

Chamberlain performed classical stage roles, including Hamlet, and worked in musical theatre. He trained at Pomona College and studied acting with Jeff Corey.
