## Biography

Richard Flanagan is an Australian writer. Born in Longford, Tasmania, in 1961, he studied at the University of Tasmania and was a Rhodes Scholar at Worcester College, Oxford.

His novels include *The Narrow Road to the Deep North* (2013), which won the Man Booker Prize. He wrote the screenplay for the film *Australia* (2008), directed by Baz Luhrmann. An adaptation of his novel as a television series is scheduled for 2025.

Flanagan has also directed films and written non-fiction. He is the brother of journalist Martin Flanagan.
