## Biography

Richard L. Johnson is an American production designer and art director. He began his career in the early 1980s as an assistant art director on television series including *One Day at a Time* and *Three's a Crowd*, later working as art director and production designer on films and television movies such as *Stone Cold* (1991), *Extreme Justice* (1993) and *Bonanza: Under Attack* (1995).

Johnson has served as supervising art director or art director on numerous feature films, including *The Truman Show* (1998), *A.I. Artificial Intelligence* (2001), *The Avengers* (2012), *Pacific Rim* (2013), *The Amazing Spider-Man 2* (2014), *The Hateful Eight* (2015), *Ghost in the Shell* (2017), *Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood* (2019) and *Bird Box* (2018). He has also worked as production designer on *Citadel* (2023), *The Electric State* (2025) and *Digger* (2026). He received a Primetime Emmy nomination and multiple Art Directors Guild nominations.
