## Biography

Richard Long (born Richard McCord Long) was an American actor. He made his film debut in *Tomorrow Is Forever* (1946) and appeared the same year as Noah Longstreet in *The Stranger*. Early screen roles also included *The Dark Mirror* (1946), *The Egg and I* (1947) and several entries in the Ma and Pa Kettle series.

Long achieved wider recognition on television. He played Jarrod Barkley in the ABC western series *The Big Valley* (1965–1969) and Professor Harold Everett in the sitcom *Nanny and the Professor* (1970–1972). He also appeared regularly in *Bourbon Street Beat* and in one season of *77 Sunset Strip*.

Long served in the US Army during the Korean War. He died in Los Angeles in 1974.
