## Biography

Richard O'Callaghan is an English character actor. Born Richard Brooke on 7 March 1940 in London, he is the son of actors Patricia Hayes and Valentine Brooke (stage name Valentine Rooke). As a boy actor he performed under the name Richard Brooke.

O'Callaghan has worked extensively in film, stage and television. His film roles include Bertram Muffett in *Carry On Loving* (1970) and Lewis Boggs in *Carry On at Your Convenience* (1971). He voiced Dandelion in the animated film *Watership Down* (1978) and appeared as a Zealot in *Dangerous Beauty* (1998).

On television he has appeared in series including *Midsomer Murders* (as Trevor Machin), *Casualty* (as Eddie Morris), *Red Dwarf* (as Hogey the Roguey) and *New Tricks*. He married actress Elizabeth Quinn in 1991.
