## Biography

Richard Reitinger is a German screenwriter born on 6 April 1951 in Munich. He began writing for film and television in 1985 after earlier work as a street singer, streetworker and publisher.

He co-wrote the screenplay for *Wings of Desire* (1987) with Wim Wenders and Peter Handke. Reitinger later collaborated again with Wenders on the sequel *Faraway, So Close!* (1993), sharing credit with Ulrich Zieger. His original screenplay for the first film provided the basis for the 1998 Hollywood remake *City of Angels*. Other credits include the screenplay for *Jungle Child* (2011) and episodes of television series such as *Einsatz in Hamburg*.

From 2007 to 2022 Reitinger was professor of screenwriting at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg and artistic director of the Hamburg Media School.
