Richard Shannon was an American film and television actor. Born Richard Esberry Mangan on 25 July 1920 in San Francisco, California, he appeared in more than seventy films and television programmes between 1953 and 1963, often in supporting roles as military officers, lawmen and other authoritative figures.

His film credits include *The Bridges at Toko-Ri* (1954), *Artists and Models* (1955) as Secret Service Agent Rogers, *The Tin Star* (1957) as Buck Henderson, and *The Trap* (1959). He also made guest appearances in series such as *Have Gun – Will Travel*, *Rawhide*, *Gunsmoke* and *The Alfred Hitchcock Hour*. Shannon was married to actress Marla English and later to Ellen Carmichael. He died on 2 December 1989 in Astoria, Oregon.
