Richard Sweren is a television writer and producer. A former public defender in Manhattan and Brooklyn, he has contributed dozens of episodes to the *Law & Order* franchise.

His credits on the original *Law & Order* (1990) include writing, teleplay and story work, as well as serving as story editor and producer. He has also written for *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* (1999), *Law & Order: UK* (2009), *Law & Order: LA* (2010) and *FBI: Most Wanted* (2020), and contributed to the forthcoming series *CIA* (2026). He has received multiple Primetime Emmy nominations.
