Richard Wharton is an American actor born on 21 March 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. He began his career in Chicago theatre and made his film debut in *Running Scared* (1986).

Wharton appeared in Sam Shepard's play *Seduced* at the Immediate Theatre Company in Chicago in 1988 and received a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for Actor in a Principal Role in a Play. He has worked extensively in film and television as a character actor, with credits including *Seven Psychopaths* (2012), *Thor: The Dark World* (2013) and guest roles in series such as *How I Met Your Mother*, *Charmed*, *Buffy the Vampire Slayer* and *CSI: Crime Scene Investigation*.

In 2021 he played Bill in the series *Hacks*. He has a recurring role as Dr Wilhelm Rolf in *Days of Our Lives*.
