## Biography

Rick Rubin is an American record producer and music executive. He co-founded Def Jam Recordings with Russell Simmons and founded American Recordings; he later served as co-president of Columbia Records.

Rubin has produced records across genres for artists including the Beastie Boys, Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Metallica, Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash and many others. He directed the 2021 Hulu series *McCartney 3, 2, 1* and made his feature-length documentary directorial debut with the 2026 HBO series *JAŸ-Z in 8*, in which he also appears as interviewer.
