Rita Assemany is a Brazilian actress born in Salvador, Bahia, in 1962. She has worked in film, television and theatre since 1980.

Her film roles include Jessé's Wife in *Central Station* (1998), Mother in *Behind the Sun* (2001), Raimunda in *Beyond the Universe* (2022), Célia in *Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands* (2017) and Dulce Coelho in *The Seamstress* (2017). In 2000 she received best actress awards at the Brasília and Curitiba festivals for the short film *Pixaim*.

On stage she created the monologue *Oficina Condensada* (1992), which ran for three years, and appeared in productions including *Medéia* (1997) directed by Hans Ulrich Becker. She has also appeared in Brazilian television series and specials.
