## Biography

Rita Marley is a Jamaican reggae singer and songwriter. Born Alfarita Constantia Anderson on 25 July 1946 in Santiago de Cuba, she moved to Jamaica as a child and began performing in the mid-1960s with the vocal group the Soulettes. She joined Bob Marley and the Wailers as a backing vocalist and was a founding member of the I-Threes alongside Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt.

Following Bob Marley's death in 1981, she has overseen aspects of his musical legacy through the Tuff Gong label and related enterprises. Marley served as a producer on the biographical film *Bob Marley: One Love* (2024) and appeared as herself in the documentary *Marley* (2012). She is also credited as a wedding singer in *The Mighty Quinn* (1989).
