Rob Thompson is an American television director, producer and screenwriter. Active since 1975, he has directed episodes of series including *L.A. Law*, *The Wonder Years*, *Doogie Howser, M.D.*, *Dream On*, *Ed*, *The Chris Isaak Show*, *Monk* and *Northern Exposure*.

He served as producer on *Northern Exposure* and was part of the producing and writing team that won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 1992. He also directed the episode "Cicely", which received a Directors Guild of America Award.
