Robert Arthur (born Robert Paul Arthaud) was an American actor. Born in Aberdeen, Washington, he served in the US Navy during the Second World War before beginning his film career in Hollywood. His first screen role came in 1945 in *Roughly Speaking*, after which he appeared in numerous supporting parts in films of the 1940s and 1950s, frequently portraying youthful characters.

Notable credits include *Twelve O'Clock High* (1949) as Sgt. McIllhenny and *Ace in the Hole* (1951) as Herbie Cook. He also worked in radio and made occasional television appearances, including a guest role in *Full House* (1991). After largely retiring from acting in the 1960s, Arthur became an activist for gay rights on behalf of senior citizens. He died in Aberdeen on 1 October 2008.
