## Biography

Robert Bassler (1903–1975) was an American film and television producer. After studying at George Washington University, he began his career in 1924 as a researcher at Paramount Pictures, later working as a film editor there from 1928 to 1930. He spent time as a literary agent before returning to Hollywood in 1942 as a producer under contract at 20th Century Fox.

Bassler produced numerous features at Fox, including *The Black Swan* (1942), *The Lodger* (1944), *Hangover Square* (1945), *The Snake Pit* (1948), *Thieves' Highway* (1949), *The House on Telegraph Hill* (1951), *Halls of Montezuma* (1951) and *Suddenly* (1954). He later worked in episodic television and retired in 1960.
