## Biography

Robert Beltran is an American actor. He graduated from California State University, Fresno with a degree in theatre arts and began his screen career with a small role in the 1981 film *Zoot Suit*.

His breakthrough came in 1982 as Raoul Mendoza in the black comedy *Eating Raoul*. Beltran is best known for portraying Commander Chakotay on the television series *Star Trek: Voyager* (1995–2001), for which he received the Nosotros Golden Eagle Award for Outstanding Actor in a Television Series in 1997. He has also worked extensively in theatre and co-founded the East LA Classic Theater Group.
