Robert Brinkmann is a German cinematographer. Born on 20 November 1961 in Braunschweig, he studied film production at the University of Southern California, specialising in cinematography, and graduated summa cum laude. After graduating he co-founded Cinescope Productions, which produced and shot music videos, commercials and documentaries.

Brinkmann’s feature credits as director of photography include *Shout* (1991), *Encino Man* (1992), *The Beverly Hillbillies* (1993), *The Truth About Cats & Dogs* (1996), *The Cable Guy* (1996), *The Rules of Attraction* (2002) and *Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny* (2006). He has also worked on television series including *Fallen Angels* (1995). He directed the documentary *Stephen Tobolowsky’s Birthday Party* (2006).

Brinkmann has been married to Olive Kim since 2009. He was previously married to actress Mena Suvari.
