Robert C. Thompson is a television director, producer and writer. His credits include directing episodes of *Hill Street Blues* (1981), *The Greatest American Hero* (1981–1982), *Fame* (1983–1986), *Dynasty* (1981), *Magnum, P.I.* (1982) and *Seven Brides for Seven Brothers* (1982). He also directed episodes of *Dallas* (1983), *The Renegades* (1983) and later series such as *Silk Stalkings* (1995), as well as television films including *Words by Heart* (1985) and *Gone to Maui* (1999).

Thompson served as producer and executive producer on *The Paper Chase* (1978–1979) and received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his work on the series. He is credited with the story for the feature film *The Cowboy Way* (1994).
