## Biography

Robert Cartwright is a British production designer and art director. Born on 3 August 1930 in Ludgershall, Wiltshire, he worked extensively in film and television art departments from the 1950s onwards.

His credits include set decoration on *2001: A Space Odyssey* (1968) and *The Bounty* (1984), art direction on *The Elephant Man* (1980), *History of the World: Part I* (1981) and *Lifeforce* (1985), and production design on *National Lampoon's European Vacation* (1985). He also served as production designer on the television series *The Famous Five* (1978–1979) and other TV projects including *A Fine Romance* (1989).

Cartwright received Oscar nominations for his work on several films.
