## Biography

Robert Clatworthy (1911–1992) was an American art director and production designer. He began his career working on B-movies at Paramount and Universal studios before taking on more prominent assignments from the late 1950s.

He contributed art direction to films including *Touch of Evil* (1958), *Psycho* (1960), *The Parent Trap* (1961) and *Written on the Wind* (1956), and served as production designer on *Ship of Fools* (1965), *Inside Daisy Clover* (1965), *Guess Who's Coming to Dinner* (1967) and *Cactus Flower* (1969). He also worked on episodes of *The Twilight Zone* and intermittently with Disney in the 1960s and 1970s.

Clatworthy received an Academy Award for Best Art Direction–Set Decoration (Black-and-White) for *Ship of Fools* in 1966, along with further Oscar nominations for *Psycho*, *That Touch of Mink* (1962), *Inside Daisy Clover* and *Guess Who's Coming to Dinner*.
