Robert David MacDonald (also credited as Robert David McDonald) was a Scottish actor and writer. He appeared as Lumsden in the 1994 film *Shallow Grave* and took supporting roles in television series including *Scarlet and Black* (1993), *Doctor Finlay* (1996), *Madson* (1996) and *Kavanagh QC* (1998).

MacDonald was born on 27 August 1929 in Elgin, Scotland, and died on 19 May 2004. He also worked extensively in theatre as a playwright, translator and director, notably as co-artistic director of the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow from 1970 until 2003.
