## Biography

Robert De Grasse (9 February 1900 – 28 January 1971) was an American cinematographer. Born in Maplewood, New Jersey, he began his career as an assistant cameraman and became a full-time cinematographer by the age of 21. He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the nephew of actor Sam De Grasse.

De Grasse worked on more than 100 films, including *Alice Adams* (1935), *Stage Door* (1937), *Vivacious Lady* (1938), *Bachelor Mother* (1939), *The Leopard Man* (1943), *The Body Snatcher* (1945), *Born to Kill* (1947) and *The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer* (1947). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography for *Vivacious Lady*. In later years he contributed to television series including *I Love Lucy* and *The Dick Van Dyke Show*.
