Robert E. Swanson is a television writer and producer, also credited as Robert Swanson. He began writing for series in the mid-1970s, contributing the episode 'The Trade-Off' to *Kojak* in 1975 and an episode to *Baretta* the same year.

Swanson wrote multiple episodes of *Starsky and Hutch* (1978–1979), as well as episodes of *Hart to Hart*, *Barnaby Jones*, *Ellery Queen* and other crime and mystery series. From 1984 he worked extensively on *Murder, She Wrote*, writing around 25 episodes and later serving as producer and supervising producer.
