## Biography

Robert F. Shugrue was an American film editor. Born in Santa Monica, California, on 17 January 1937, he began his career in 1956 as a staff apprentice editor at Universal Television’s Revue Studios. He worked on series including *The Millionaire*, *Leave It to Beaver* and *Alfred Hitchcock Presents*, and received early editing credits on episodes of *Kojak* and other television projects.

Shugrue edited numerous television films and miniseries as well as feature films. His credits include *Two Mules for Sister Sara* (1970), *Star Trek III: The Search for Spock* (1984), *The Thorn Birds* (1983), *It* (1990) and *Street Fighter* (1994). He won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Film Editing for the 1982 miniseries *A Woman Called Golda* and received further Emmy nominations for *The Neon Ceiling* (1971), *The Thorn Birds* and *It*.

He was a member of a multi-generational entertainment industry family. Shugrue died of heart failure in Los Angeles on 27 November 1999, aged 62.
