## Biography

Robert Festinger is an American screenwriter and director. He studied filmmaking at New York University and worked as a script reader at HBO Films, where he discovered the short story "Killings" by Andre Dubus.

Festinger co-wrote the screenplay for *In the Bedroom* (2001) with Todd Field. He later wrote the screenplays for *Trust* (2010) and *Hampstead* (2017), and directed the short film *The Procession* (2012).

For *In the Bedroom*, Festinger received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as a National Board of Review award and a Golden Satellite Award for Best Screenplay.
