## Biography

Robert H. Planck was an American cinematographer. Born Robert Herbert Planck on 19 August 1902 in Huntington, Indiana, he began working as a director of photography in 1929 and joined MGM in 1940, remaining there until 1956.

He received four Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography, for *Anchors Aweigh* (1945, shared with Charles P. Boyle), *The Three Musketeers* (1948), *Little Women* (1949, shared with Charles Schoenbaum) and *Lili* (1953). His other MGM credits include *Madame Bovary* (1949), *Summer Stock* (1950), *Royal Wedding* (1951) and *Moonfleet* (1955). Later he worked on the television series *My Three Sons* (1960–1966). Planck died on 31 October 1971 in Camarillo, California.
