## Biography

Timothy Sydney Robert Hardy (1925–2017) was an English actor with a career spanning theatre, film and television from 1949 until his death. He trained at Magdalen College, Oxford, and joined the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre company at Stratford-upon-Avon in 1949 after service in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War.

Hardy was widely recognised for his portrayal of Siegfried Farnon in the BBC series *All Creatures Great and Small* (1978–1990) and as Winston Churchill in *Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years* (1981) and subsequent productions. He played Professor Krempe in *Mary Shelley's Frankenstein* (1994), Sir John Middleton in *Sense and Sensibility* (1995) and Cornelius Fudge in four *Harry Potter* films (2002–2007). He received a CBE in 1981 and was nominated for BAFTA awards for his performances in *All Creatures Great and Small* and *Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years*.
